About Us

Captain Jeff Steffen
	Captain Jeff Steffen lives in Fish Creek, but is minutes away from the Gordon Lodge Resort, port-of-call for Fish Tales. With over 30 years of salmon and trout fishing experience in waters around northern Door County, he is able to put you on fish quickly and consistently. Captain Jeff knows the excitement of a big catch. In 1993, while partnering with his father, this team landed the largest chinook salmon (40.07 lbs.)ever recorded in the Kewaunee/Door County Salmon Tournament. Fish Tales works the same waters, regularly boats large kings, and makes every effort to repeat this experience with you handling the rod. Captain Jeff has great experience with children, youth, and families having worked as the local school principal until retirement in 2008 enabled him to pursue fishing full-time. This educational background ensures a terrific learning experience for young and old alike. During fall and winter months Captain Jeff can be found mating on an off-shore charter fishing boat (Blue Runner Charters, Marco Island, Florida).

Captain's Lifelong Mate
	Linda, Jeff's wife, is an integral member of the Fish Tales Charters team. While Captain Jeff focuses on the "on-the-water" duties and tasks, Linda assists in managing the behind the scenes responsibilities - particularly answering the phone! Her help enables the captain to remain focused upon your fishing outing exclusively - ensuring total commitment to your private charter experience.

While aboard you'll experience state of the art electronics including Lowrance sonar and GPS, Big Jon electric downriggers, Depth Raider speed and temperature sensors, and Raymarine VHF. In addition, Captain Jeff relies upon top of the line Okuma and Shimano reels and rods to help you get those lunkers in the cooler. All fishing and tackle is provided, and count on this captain to clean and bag your catch at the dock.

Shel' - Lin
	Shel'-Lin, a Triton 18.6 foot center console (Sea Hunt Boats MFG.Inc.)serves as Captain Jeff's bay side craft. This boat has many fishing features, a roomy layout, and excellent big water performance. Powered by a Yamaha 115 4-stroke, Shel'-Lin can cruise the shorelines, slow-troll, or beach on a Florida shell island - where it got it's namesake.
